Have you ever entertained the thought that light drives out darkness? Did you realize that you can be that light?
I spent most of my life thinking I was nothing but an insignificant human being. Of course, my friends and family loved me, but I did not feel important in the world. I spent time in a depressive state because I did not feel worthy of a good life. You might say, I lived in darkness.
Gradually, throughout the last few years, I’ve seen how my life impacts others around me. I finally discovered that I am light. In being the light, I choose to share that light with the people I am in contact with. From there, those folks can pass the Light to their friends … and on and on it goes: Lighting up the world.
December is one of the darkest months of the year. During this time, most of us, north or south of the Equator, live in more darkness than light. The sun rises later in the day and sets earlier. Those of us who are challenged by the lack of sunlight can comfort ourselves by remembering we are one with the Light.
And what, you ask, is the Light? For me, it is the attributes of Spirit: love, truth, peace, and faith. I actively chose to live in this Light, and I share my light.
Maybe this is better said by Rev. David Robinson in a prayer he wrote on the subject:
I speak my word to remind myself that, no matter what darkness seems to surround me, Light is always present and is greater than the darkness. No battle, no struggle is necessary. Since darkness of any kind is simply the absence of Light, turning to the always present Light I am, and the Light of the Divine all around me automatically and easily dispels any appearance of darkness. I turn, full heartedly, to the remembrance and awareness of that Light, letting it shine in every detail of my life now. I have faith in God, I have the faith of God, and that faith is enough.”
Join me in letting in the Light which drives out darkness.
