I receive many inspiring messages from other New Thought leaders. When I find something interesting or profound, I like to share it with my readers.
An inspirational story from Mary Morrissey:
She was in grave danger!
Hungry and alone, her mother was nowhere to be found.
One hesitant step after the other, the trembling baby animal marched through the tall grass, looking for food or shelter.
She was desperate and didn’t know what else to do.
Suddenly, she saw a glimpse of hope on the horizon…
A flock of sheep crossed her path and welcomed her into the group.
Many years passed…
And after half a lifetime of pasturing, roaming and living among the sheep, she was utterly convinced she was one of them!
Until one day an unexpected, lethal threat came down upon the flock…
A lion!
The lion ran directly toward them, and the flock scattered.
Instead of chasing after them, however, the terrible lion stopped abruptly in its tracks and stared at her.
“Why are you roaming with these sheep?” — the lion asked her.
“What? What do you mean? I’m a sheep… where else would I be?” she replied, perplexed.
“Can’t you see yourself? You’re a LION, too!”
After posting the story, Mary went on to explain that we are all lions, but self-doubt makes us believe we are sheep When we believe we are sheep, that self-doubt keeps us from expressing our true potential.
Do you suffer from self-doubt? Honestly, I don’t know anyone who does not to some degree. But I know in my life, the only way I can excel is to leave the doubt behind and remember that I am really a lion.
Take a lesson from the story: Don’t get caught in sheep syndrome where you feel stuck in a life where you are content to roam with the sheep. Become the lion that you are meant to be!
According to Mary: “However, there’s an antidote to self-doubt: authentic confidence!”
