This summer is unusually hectic. Lots of crazy stuff going on …. car troubles, computer problems, shipping problems, banking problems ….
Through it all, we each need to maintain peace in our lives. As we learn to express peace, it also spreads to those around us.
I was reading through some of the booklets I receive from Unity and found a wonderful passage on peace in ‘Courage to Imagine’
Here are some of the ways to explored and have peace in our lives.
Pray: Find your inner spirit of harmony with prayer.
I find when I take time to stop and pray, giving thanks for the goodness around me, I feel peace flow back into my life.
Pause: Take a few moments each day — in the morning, at lunch, or before bed — to pause.
I know when I am rushing around, I don’t feel peaceful! We all need to take a break from time to time to slow down and enjoy the present moment.
Radiate: Let peace radiate in your easygoing tone with others.
When I am peaceful, I notice that others around me are peaceful as well. Working at home, as I and my husband do, we can get on each other’s nerves when we don’t practice peace.
Meditate: Visualize your peaceful heart as you let go fo all that surrounds you.
Meditation is a deeper form of pausing as meditation is focusing that pause on centering and finding my peace.
Movement: Awaken your peace by moving around in the spaces you occupy and enjoy.
Going outside and enjoying our yard and the weather helps me to feel peaceful again when things in my office didn’t seem too peaceful.
Give: A helping hand, emotional support, or just your sense of optimism — give to others as often as you can.
When we help others, we take the focus off ourselves and channel it towards helping another living being, thus helps peace to flow again.
Affirmations: Affirm the power of peace. Remind yourself that you are in the peace of Spirit.
I AM Peace — said over and over throughout a stressful day reminds us to let go of the stress and be open to the peace around us
Music: Whether listening to or creating it, music can open your heart to peace.
Personally, music really speaks to my heart and helps me maintain a peaceful mood despite outward circumstances.
Which of the eight methods above speaks peace to you?
