The Inability to Harm a Fly
~ Rev. Dr. Michelle Medrano
(from the September 2017, Science of Mind Magazine)
It has become a common practice now for me to be kind and gentle to all beings. Children, animals and insects not only receive kindness and aw from me, I find my heart opening t them in a deep compassion. While I recognize that we are all free to live a life of being kind or doing harms, and the Source of the Universe fully embraces us with love no matter what our choice, when my heart is fully open, I simply cannot find the choice to do harm in any way available to me.
This means that I go out of my way to help insects be free from my home in harmless ways. It means that I help lost animals find their homes even if it means I miss some important meeting. It means that crying, loud children invite me to send love and blessings to them and their caregivers.
This state invites me to be kind, generous, caring and helpful to all beings. It can be a total inconvenience, yet something in me knows it is my true North, and it is a state that allows me to feel my truest, heart-full nature. Call me crazy, but I’d rather be crazy in love with all beings than be that shut down, afraid being I used to be!
