Persistence

I spent several years as a traveling sales rep selling to gift shops.  Driving from town to town — mostly in Idaho — I visited retail buyers interested in buying new and unique products for their stores.

One of the biggest lessons I learned was persistence.  Sometimes, I would get lucky persistanceand sell to a store on the first stop I made.  More often, I needed to visit with the buyer two – three – or more times before they would buy from me.  Being patiently persistent was the key to my success!

Even though I have ‘retired’ from road repping, I still apply the persistence I learned to other areas of my life — especially in my spiritual life.

Sometimes, we just don’t get the answers we need as quick as we need them — At least not in our estimation.  But part of ‘walking in Spirit’ means being persistent in declaring what we want and knowing it will manifest.

How many times have we given up on a need or thought only to have it appear later?

I am not advocating begging — as I never begged my buyers to buy from me — but I persistently pursued the goal without waiving or taking offense at my lack of success at the moment.

We live in a society who wants instant results, but it does not always work that way in the spiritual (or the physical) realm.  And often, the results we wanted or expected show up in a manner that was not in line with our thinking.

So, be persistent in your prayer and meditation daily.  But be open to what Spirit reveals.  It will be worth it!

“In the confrontation between the stream and the rock, the stream always wins:  Not through strength, but through persistence.”
