Approximately 70% of households in the US have pets. I have always considered my cats as my little companions. However, I have recently come to realize that pets are spiritual beings with spiritual wisdom that may surpass our own.
I have owned cats for nearly all of my life (I also had some dogs, but I definitely favor cats).
According to the Unity Booklet, “The Spiritual Wisdom of Pets“, I am now seeing my cats as spiritual beings.
Here is an excerpt of the opening statement of the booklet:
They (our pets) also teach us spiritual lessons if we pay attention. … You will read stories from New Thought writers reflecting on the wisdom of their pets. Pets can teach us love, forgiveness, play, and certainly how to be happy in the present moment.
We have all heard the stories of pets saving families during fires before. Dogs can lead people to those who are sick and dying. I have even heard of some hospitals using pets as companions to people to help facilitate healing. However, until now, I had never considered them as conveying spiritual wisdom.
Actually, this is a bit of a confession. I do remember years ago, my cat Tio trying to warn me about a potentially undesirable individual. It was in the mid-1970s when I was still single. I was seeing a fellow from the church I attended at the time. He was friends with my roommates, initially, but when we met, we started dating. Somewhere early in the relationship, when this man came to visit, Tio jumped on his lap and proceeded to pee on him. I was pretty shocked. Never before or since had I ever seen a cat do that!
As it turned out, I did not heed my cat’s warning and went ahead and married the guy. As it turned out, that decision was probably the biggest mistake of my life. This man was manipulative, mean, and made me and our kids’ lives miserable! Of course, I eventually divorced him. It was not before I said a short prayer asking Tio, whom I had to rehome early in my marriage, to forgive me for not listening.
Coincidental? I think not! I am now sure that my cat knew something I couldn’t see, as my ex-husband appeared to be a perfect gentleman at the time.
Since then, I have developed a growing awareness of my own and others’ pets’ intuition. Realizing now that they are spiritual beings, seeing and hearing from Spirit makes perfect sense!
