Practice Resistance

The more I see what affects my community and our country, the more I am convinced we must practice resistance! But I am not talking about resisting a body of people, a government, or any particular ideal, but resisting our urges that cause division.

Before I go any further, there is a time and place for marches, for removing ourselves from compromising situations, or even for separating ourselves from people or groups that want to talk us into things that are uncomfortable to our souls.

I am talking about resisting things that cause undue division, such as hate, intolerance, anger, judgment, unforgiveness, greediness …. the list goes on.

These are things that I see running rampant in our society.  And honestly, I fall into the same traps as the next person.

There is a solution!Practicing Resistance

The only lasting way I can see to come back together in some form of unity is to resist those negative thoughts and behaviors and return to love, tolerance, compassion, non-judgment, forgiveness, and generosity.

Our world has become so polarized that we have forgotten that we are all one in Spirit.  We are all human beings placed on this planet to take care of each other.

Even though practicing resistance has been around for a long time, I see now how utterly necessary it is becoming daily in our world.  There was a time when it was easier to be loving and compassionate.  It seems that we, as a society, have spiraled down a hole that we can’t easily get out of.

I am choosing to resist the negativity and spread goodness and love to the world, starting with my closest family and friends.  I want to be instrumental in being a force of good in the world.  Maybe even one small act of kindness will change someone’s day.  Then this person can pass it on by being kind to someone in their life.  We have the power to change our world by just changing ourselves.

We are social creatures.  When we take a strong stand on an issue, we open the door for someone else to do the same.  Pretty soon, we change those closest to us.  Instead of worrying about the negativity we see in the world, we can influence others to spread love, joy, peace, and contentment.  Wouldn’t that be wonderful?

What do you think?  Are you willing to stand with me to practice resistance and promote unity?  We have the power to change our world if we work together!
