Resilience Despite the Circumstances

Resilience, during a holiday season plagued with the Coronavirus, is on my mind these last weeks.

All of us have experienced the loss of contact with one or more people who are close to us during this holiday season.  Except for a quick in and out, I have not visited with my elderly mother in months.  I miss my step-daughters and did not attend my step-grandsons 6th birthday party!

Even though we live in a low populated area, COVID has hit us pretty hard in this last month.  As I Resilience Despite the Circumstanceswrite this, my son, who shares an apartment with my daughter and grandson (about 35 miles from here), is in isolation until he receives the results of his COVID test.  I was visiting with them when we got the news that he might be infected!

So how do we practice resilience during times like this?  Tami Tack wrote a great article on this subject which was published in the October Science of Mind Magazine.

Tami’s Tips on Resilience:

Accept What Is.

Accepting does not mean giving up.  It means not reacting or fighting the circumstances — especially ones we have no control over and cannot change!

Surrender to Life as It Is.

It is okay to feel grief, rage, or a sense of loss.  But surrender your victim position and connect with Spirit before taking any action!

Set the Intention.

Set your intention on growing spiritually rather than engage in toxic arguments — especially those arguments with people you don’t know. This will help keep you centered.

Look for the Silver Lining.

Focus on what you are learning, how you have grown, what you would do again, or what have you experienced during this time. There is always something to learn during adversity.

Learning and practicing resilience helps us deal more effectively with tough situations.  I find that expressing love and appreciation goes a long way to helping me cope during these times.

How about you?  What do you do to remain resilient despite circumstances?

PS.  Just as I was getting ready to publish this, I heard my son’s COVID test came back negative!
