In today’s world, with all the confusion, pain, and anger that seem to be prevalent, I find the Spiritual Tool to help navigate life with more peace. These tools help me center my life when I don’t see peace in my world.
We are all spiritual beings walking around in skin suits. Maybe you do not see yourself this way, but I choose to remember that I am a spiritual being first. We are all made in the image of God/Spirit, but sometimes we don’t feel that way. Or at least this is true for me!
I spent many years trying to cope with situations that sometimes overwhelmed me. I hid my feelings and continued on the best I could. Of course, most of this angst was in my mind. The imagination can lead us down a peaceful or peaceless path, depending on our attitude. I confess: I have struggled in the past (and sometimes still do) with controlling my thoughts.
When I encountered New Thought teachings, I discovered a new and more enlightened perspective on life. I learned to turn those negative thoughts into more positive ones and start looking at my life in a more optimistic light. I learned self-care!
How did I do that! By learning and practicing the spiritual tools I have embraced.
Here are some deeper practices to add to your spiritual toolbox, guiding you toward a more peaceful and fulfilling life.
- Affirmations and Afformations state (statements focusing on a positive outcome)
- Meditation (mindful stillness to listen to Spirit)
- Visualization (using your imagination to help manifest your goals)
- Visioning (aid to train ourselves to be able to hear, feel, see, and catch God’s plan for our life or project)
- Giving Time, Talents, and Treasure (joyfully dedicating your resources to participate in the flow of Substance in the Universe)
- Spiritual Study (opening to new ideas and the greater Good into your life)
- Journaling Your Thoughts and Feelings (aids in clarity and better understanding of our thoughts and feelings)
- Spiritual Treatment (recognize your answer to prayer as affirmed in the prayer itself and speaking the nature of Spirit into form)
I have created a written guide outlining all eight tools (and more) to help you lean on something beyond yourself for strength and clarity.
I discovered that we are not humans having a spiritual experience but rather spiritual beings having a human experience! Therefore, spiritual practices (the “meat” or protein behind spirituality) helped me connect with my inner being, where the true hunger for Spirit resides. Establishing a regular diet of spiritual practices improves my life inwardly and outwardly.
