Christmastime is a precious time of the year for most of us. Whether you are Christian or any other religious tradition, there are many events, celebrations, or traditions around this time of year.
When I was younger and raising my family, my kid’s father and I chose not to do the ‘Santa thing.’ Instead, we preferred to tell them that God/Jesus/Spirit supplies the money for the gifts. In retrospect, I regret that decision — at least somewhat — especially when I see the sparkle in the eyes of the little ones during the holidays.
My kids are grown and gone with kids of their own, making their own traditions with their little ones. My children do a full-on Santa routine with their little ones. Despite that, I don’t hear from them what Santa will bring them, but they ask what Grandma will give them!
I don’t believe there is a right or wrong way to celebrate Christmas. We all want to enjoy it in any way that feels right to us. I no longer put up a tree in our small, humble home, but we decorate a bit and plan a special dinner. Some family members share the day with us, and we are grateful for our smaller gatherings.
To participate, in my small way, in the Christmastime traditions, I like to share a story or poem that I have found during the holiday season.
This year, I am sharing a poem published by the Divine Science Federation Int’l in their December 10th Daily Study.
LET CHRISTMAS COME
by Elizabeth Searle Lamb, 1917 – 2005
Let Christmas come first
Into the inner heart,
God’s gift of Love renewed.
Oh, cherish the gift
And hold it close for a time.
Let the gift be nurtured
with faith and hope and joy.
Then let this gift be released,
released with every card,
released with every gift,
released with “Merry Christmas”
every time the words are spoken.
Oh, celebrate Christmas first
in the heart, then let
the celebration flower into a gift
that will renew the world–
your world, yes…and mine!

I do agree with all the ideas you have introduced on your post. They are very convincing and will definitely work. Still, the posts are very short for newbies. May just you please prolong them a little from subsequent time? Thank you for the post.
