Even if we don’t know it or feel it, we are co-creating the world around us. When we feel fear, we create a fearful atmosphere; when we are angry, we create anger around us. Also, when we approach life with love and compassion, we spread love and kindness in our surroundings.
We may look at our words and actions differently if we realize our impact on the world.
I am just like everyone else!
I listen to and engage in negativity, gossip, and read or watch articles and shows that add to my fearful or angry atmosphere. Lately, however, I have seen the cynical inner work I create for myself. I took a long, hard look at my life and decided to change.
But how, you say, when there is so much anger, fear, and hate seemingly everywhere? Looking at the world with curiosity despite the turmoil has changed me, thus making my life a bit better.
Once again, I am like everyone else who sees the chaos in my community and our government. Thankfully, I personally don’t know of anyone directly impacted by the cutbacks and layoffs happening at the national level. But I choose to look at the situation with curiosity and compassion, especially when I don’t totally understand what is happening.
I am sure the government spends wastefully. But I don’t believe in cutting people’s jobs, livelihoods, and passions without very serious consideration. There are checks and balances here that should be honored. But what these actions are doing is not a good way to co-create our world positively.
It is easy to get drawn into the drama and join in on gossip and slander. But how would situations unfold if we remembered that what we think, say, and do is co-creating the world around us? Whether we involve ourselves with this nationally or even in our neighborhoods and communities, it still has the same results.
I want to live a happy, peaceful life.
To create this, I need to embody happiness and peace wherever possible. When I give into fear, I create fear around me. When I give in to hate and anger, I create hate and anger around me.
When you start feeling this way, try looking at the situation with curiosity rather than jumping into the negativity. Start asking why you think the way you do. Try changing or co-creating what you wish to see in the world. Maybe if we all did this, we would have a much happier, peaceful, and contented world.
