I attended a Zoom Women’s Group meeting over the weekend that I found rather insightful. The topic of discussion was how COVID had affected our lives and what we believed about it. There were about 15 ladies there with varying opinions and insights. But what I found most interesting was despite the challenges we all faced during the pandemic, many gals shared what they learned: To focus on the blessings and oneness of Spirit through it all.
Being so inspired, I, too, stopped comparing with the them-versus-us mentality and started looking at the blessings we have seen through this challenging time.
My list of blessings during the last 18 or so months
- Exploring the beauty of sitting at home and attending online meetings (for me, who lives in rural Idaho, this is a real blessing).
- Realizing that everyone is just trying to do their best to maneuver through a new world and its paradigm.
- Understanding that loving my neighbor and being there for them is more important than religion or political affiliation.
- Remembering that we are all one with the One.
- Discovering how vital front-line workers are to society and expressing that appreciation for them.
- Seeing how many people, including myself, have stepped up and developed businesses on their own time and terms.
- Connecting with like-minded people outside my neighborhood, community, state, or country.
- Noticing the little things I missed during the hustle and bustle of life — like enjoying nature and the beauty all around me.
- Meeting many new friends through the internet.
- Never giving in to fear, but rather maintaining peace and calm during this challenging time.
- Learning to appreciate one another just as we are.
Had we not experienced the pandemic and all that came with it, I may not have seen the above blessings in my life.
Let me challenge you today: Make up your own list of blessings. You can use my list as a guide if it helps. Anytime you start to get angry or frustrated with life, take a look at your blessing list.
Not only will you feel better, but you will learn an important lesson: The more you focus on the blessings, the more blessings will come to you.
“When you focus on being a blessing, God makes sure that you are always blessed in abundance.” ~Joel Osteen
