Looking at Life Upside Down

Do you ever have moments when things just do not mesh up in life? Maybe all your plans change suddenly or just don’t work out. These are times that maybe looking at life upside down might be the answer!

The wonderful thing about life is we can always stop, turn around, and go another way.

This makes me think about Albert Einstein’s famous quote: “We can’t solve problems by using the same kind of thinking we used when we created them.”

How often do we forget this concept in our daily thinking? And, of course, what may have worked previously may not work next time.

This is what happened to me concerning a committee I was leading. None of the interesting ideas the group came up with seemed to be working for the governing body we were working with. I was starting to get discouraged.

Kelly Robbins discusses this subject in an article in the March Science of Mind magazine. She suggests breaking through repetitive patterns.

As the saying goes, if you want something you’ve never had, you have to do something you’ve never done. The opportunity lies in catching even a glimpse of what’s outside our usual way of seeing, changing our view of what it is and what is possible.

After a few days of wrestling with the issue, I mentally walked away. Keeping peace within was too important at this point. But once I accepted that my ideas or solutions weren’t working, I realized I needed to make a 180-degree turn in my thinking.

Robbins goes on to remind the readers that all ideas come from Spirit. I just needed to open myself up as a conduit to receive the correct direction. After that, I could be clear about what I wanted to accomplish. I took my eyes off the problem. With my 180-degree turn, I saw that I needed to look at this issue from a whole different perspective. In other words, I began looking at life upside down and with a creative openness.

Robins continues to explain:

Seeing your world from upside down requires creativity. Doing things differently than you have in the past means you must go against the norm, and that might seem weird. It may feel uncomfortable, but only because you haven’t experienced creating life this way before. Questioning, creating and viewing life upside down will become more natural, even instinctual, in time.

I find peace in implementing the idea of looking at life upside down when I feel like I am hitting a brick wall. I think you might, too.
