I see a pattern emerging in the events unfolding in our world. We have forgotten to believe and practice that love is the answer.
How do I know that love is the answer? First, because Jesus said it over two thousand years ago when he proclaimed the two greatest commandments:
“‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.”
~ Matthew 22:36-40, NIV
Because we are human, we often forget that this applies to those who think differently than we do; are of a different race or
religion than we are; or have a different sexual orientation than we do. If we truly proclaim ourselves to be followers of Jesus’ teachings, we must embrace his words.
When we choose compassion, we confront injustice, support those in need, and strive for a more equitable society. … Awakening to our spiritual magnificence means recognizing the divine in ourselves and others. It calls us to act with love, empathy, and kindness. By choosing compassion, we can bridge divides, heal wounds, and create a world where everyone can thrive.~When Words Fall Short by Soni Cantrell-Smith
If we are really honest about what is before us we will see that calls for compassion and reconciliation will expose hard and ugly truths about who we have been and who we are.~Part 2: The Ghosts in the Room by Rev. David Alexander
