Should we ask for patience? Of course, we all could use more patience, but should we actually ask for prayer for patience?
I was in one of my meetings with a group of Spiritual Prayer Practitioners. At the meeting, we all express any prayer requests we want to share. Many ask for peace, prosperity, health, wholeness …. the list goes on and on.
This particular week, I was struggling with one of my virtual clients. The gal is a lovely lady, but she frequently changes my work agenda without telling me. Too often, I need to second-guess what she wants because I don’t always receive the complete direction of what I am to do. Not terrible uncommon as folks hire me because they are too busy to do some of the ‘paperwork’ (not sure what to call it now since I am a virtual assistant!).
There are weeks that I need to learn more patience in dealing with this client … or people in general. And this was one of those weeks.
When my turn came to express my prayer request, I stated that I wanted more patience.
Aha — I got a response there from one of my fellow practitioners:
“Sandy, do you REALLY want to pray for more patience? I find when I do,” she went on to explain, “all kinds of situations come up that can try my lack of patience even more!”
Of course, we all laughed, recalling times where each of us had experienced such times.
Still, I needed the strength to deal with my lack of patience in dealing with some people.
After some discussion, my minister friend suggested the following prayer request:
“Knowing that Patience is present in every moment, acknowledging that all is unfolding in God’s Perfect Timing; knowing that my heart and mind are open and that all people are in their right and perfect place, time, and perspective …”
Naturally, she worded the request perfectly (maybe that is why she is the minister and I am the practitioner!).
