During my years in the fundamental Christian movement, I must have read the Bible, cover to cover, two dozen times. Even after all these years, a Bible verse will pop into my head seemingly out of nowhere. Lately, the verse I hear is loosely translated: Where two or more gather in my name, I am in the midst of them. (Matthew 18:20)
Although I believe that Spirit/God/Energy/Universal Mind is ALWAYS among us, there is something special when two or more gather together.
If you have ever been a member of any organization, whether religious or spiritual, you will understand what I mean.
There is power in numbers — which is far greater than working or gathering alone.
Over the years, I have been a working member or a leader in many organizations. I’ve witnessed the power of these groups to bring about change within the organizations or community.
However, it is equally important to gather together to share a common belief. The goal may be as simple as sharing our thoughts, feelings, and aspirations. It is a special feeling to realize you are part of a group of like-minded individuals who, by bonding together, can impact the individuals as well as the group as a whole.
I am currently working with a group of like-minded people concerning the quality of living within our mobile home park. Without boring you with details, the morale in the park has been going downhill for several months now. I can hardly walk the park anymore without feeling the despair in people’s voices, faces, and body language. It is difficult not to be affected by the heavy-heartedness going on.
After some research, a small group of us banded together to see if we could effect change. Just meeting together had brought a spark of hope in the lives of those attending the gathering.
I have also seen this scenario within my Spiritual Center. When two or more gather to share a vision of what we want to see, attitudes shift slowly, and resources manifest.
It is a glorious process to watch and participate in.
I pray daily to have the power of Spirit work through my life. I am not particularly special from anyone else, but I have an inner need to be effective among the people I associate with. Honestly, I don’t always know how that prayer will evolve and manifest in my life, but I am watching closely as I see sparks growing around me.
Look around! You may find a time when you are moving mountains where two or more are gathered.
