Choose Your Thoughts

Yesterday, I read the Science of Mind Daily Guide titled “Choose Your Thoughts Wisely.” This was a very important lesson that I gained through my affiliation with New Thought Centers and classes.

The power of our thoughts goes much deeper than we realize.

Ernest Holmes teaches us that our mind is creative and through our thoughts we can create our reality.

…. and that we are surrounded by this Creative Mind, which receives the direct impress of our thought and acts upon it.

Now, of course, this does not happen instantly but can manifest over time, through various circumstances we may or may not expect.

We have control over our lives.

In my life, I have often prayed for something, written about, or meditated on a goal I want to achieve. Because we are not in control of the ‘how’ (Spirit is), I sometimes miss the answer until I stop and realize that it came to me when I wasn’t looking!

We don’t always realize the power of our words. A few weeks ago, I did not get the answers I needed from my doctor. At first, I was frustrated, but as time went on, I realized that I had the power of Spirit within me to change my situation. Once I remembered that, I began looking at my life choices and situations.

To recognize your potential is to begin to understand simple but powerful truths. You are enough. You are not in competition with anyone else, and your value is not measured by comparison. Your life is unique, and your worth is already established in God.

I was first introduced to New Thought through the movie: The Secret. Although the movie greatly simplifies the ‘Choose Your Thoughts’ principles, it did introduce me to a new way to look at my thoughts.   Suddenly, I realized that I had some control over my life through what I chose to think about.

Now, I often watch what goes on in my head, judgments I may be making, and how I choose my thoughts. It does make a difference to live life with intention rather than letting life happen.

What you do matters. No act of kindness, service, or effort is insignificant. When life is lived with intention, even the smallest actions can carry meaning and impact beyond what is immediately visible. …

Before you enter any space, carry the awareness that you belong. You are not an intrusion into life—you are a participant in it. When you show up with openness and presence, you contribute light rather than withdraw from it.

I hope this has encouraged you to choose your thoughts wisely and carefully. You never know where they may take you.
