New Thought Inspiration from Maya Angelou

Maya Angelou born Marguerite Annie Johnson; April 4, 1928 – May 28, 2014) was an American poet, memoirist, and civil rights activist. She published seven autobiographies, three books of essays, several books of poetry, and was credited with a list of plays, movies, and television shows spanning over 50 years. She received dozens of awards and more than 50 honorary degrees. Angelou is best known for her series of seven autobiographies, which focus on her childhood and early adult experiences.
“If you don’t like something, change it. If you can’t change it, change your attitude.”
Many of us do not realize how much control we really have over our lives and circumstances.
If you don’t like something, just change it! Sounds easy enough. But during the times when we can’t change our circumstances, we just need to change our attitude about it.
We see this all the time in life and relationship! If we don’t like interacting with a certain person or group of people, we can decide not to sell associate with them. It is our choice!
On the other hand, if we do not have the option to discontinue working with certain people we don’t like, we can choose to see those people differently. Maybe they are not as intolerable as we think. If we change how we view them, we impact the relationship in a positive way.
