In July, I shared my involvement in the World Peace Project. (You can read the article here). This fall, we launched our first World Peace and Harmony Meditation session. I would love to share this special meditation time with anyone who feels led to pray for world peace.
This project, which is new to the CSL Olympia, Washington, is not a new initiative. In December of 1986, John Randolph Price and his wife, Jan, launched World Healing Day. Their concept was to create a moment in time where the consciousness of millions worldwide link together for a single focus: World Peace. The Heart of Peace Initiative of the Centers for Spiritual Living’s Global Services expanded and sustained the project. For the last 36 years, this Initiative has continued to meet at noon, Greenwich Mean Time, on December 31st to meditate on world peace and harmony.
What difference does one person make in creating world peace?
According to the article, ‘World Healing Peace Meditation’ article in the November Science of Mind Magazine:
You make a world of difference. Every act of love, of kindness, of compassion ripples out, touching and transforming others who consciously or otherwise do the same. That which you focus on expands in your experience.
Ernest Holmes said,‘We have within us, a power that is greater than anything we shall ever contact in the outer, a power that can overcome every obstacle in our life and set us safe, satisfied, and at peace, healed and prosperous, in a new light and in a new life.’
So what is this new project all about?
Maybe it is because I came of age during the 60’s hippy movement, or perhaps it is just how I was created in Spirit. But spreading peace and love seems part of who I am. So when the idea of being involved in meditation for world peace and harmony came up in my particular Center, I did not hesitate to sign up as an organizer.
It is time to stop giving attention to conflict and strife and donate time to creating peace, healing, and love for the world. Being a part of the Meditation for World Peace and Harmony is one way to live from this higher place.
Please, feel free to join me and others in this non-denominational meditation, held on Zoom, every 3rd Sunday evening at 6:00 Pacific time.
